Easy Ways To Be Eco Friendly

Easy Ways To Be Eco Friendly

Do you want to be more sustainable in your daily life but not sure where to start? At Solmates we believe little changes can have a big impact so we have pulled a few ideas together to get you on your way.

☀️ 3 key words! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Reduce your consumption by only buying what you need, reuse items whenever possible, and recycle materials that can be recycled.

☀️ Bring your own Bring reusable bags, water bottles, coffee mugs, and food containers when you go shopping or get takeout. Avoid single-use plastic and disposable items whenever possible. And yes, take your favourite refillable sunscreen applicator out on your daily travels 😉

☀️ Choose sustainable products Look for products that are made from sustainable materials, have minimal packaging, and are produced by companies with environmentally friendly practices. Support local businesses and farmers whenever you can. And beware of greenwashing! Take the time to research before you buy to ensure you are buying truly sustainable!

☀️ Conserve energy Turn off lights and unplug electronics when they are not in use. Use energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances. Consider using natural light during the day instead of artificial lighting.

☀️ Save water Fix any leaks in faucets or toilets. Take shorter showers and turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing dishes. Consider installing low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators to reduce water usage.

☀️ Use eco-friendly transportation Whenever possible, choose to walk, cycle, or use public transportation instead of driving. If you must drive, carpool or consider car-sharing services. Electric vehicles are a good eco-friendly option if they are accessible to you.

☀️ Reduce food waste Plan your meals, make a shopping list, and buy only what you need. Store food properly to avoid spoilage. Compost food scraps if possible.

☀️ Plant trees and gardens If you have the space, consider planting trees or creating a garden. Plants help absorb carbon dioxide and provide habitat for wildlife. If you don’t have the space, try a window box for herbs and small plants.

Remember, sustainability is a journey, and even small changes can make a big difference over time. Start with what feels manageable for you and gradually incorporate more sustainable choices into your daily life. Soon your sustainable choices will be daily habits.
